Educational Networking: the important role Web 2.0 will play in education, available at http://www.citeulike.org/user/hansaagard/article/6087915. Accessed on 22-11-2009

In this article, the author mentions the changes that Web 2.0 tools bring to education. He talks about the advantages and pedagogical value of these tools, such as participation, discussion, engagement, creativity, passionate interest and personal expression, authenticity, openness, collaboration, pro-activity, critical thinking and personalized learning.

The Web 2.0 is referred to as the perfect environment for educators. It opens doors to collaboration and participation of all the actors in the learning process, by encouraging sharing and learning from peers.

This article also talks about the creativity that these tools brought into teaching and learning. The kind of creativity teachers and students didn’t know it existed. There’s more interaction in online learning and teaching, more opportunities and more support.

We all see that every day. All the tools we use like Facebook, Twitter or Social Bookmarking tools, they all allow us to learn from and connect to different people. Web 2.0 is changing the way we communicate and the way we teach and learn. The school that we knew 10 years ago is not the same as the school that we see nowadays. teachers need to develop different skills in order to follow students technological skills and needs. The whole education system changed to follow the social and technological changes. As the author mentions in this article, with web 2.0 tools we all feel more supported and we have more educational, communicative and social opportunities that we did not have available before.
